The Employer Health Tax is traditionally charged to businesses with more than $490,000 of annual payroll. The government increased that starting point to $1,000,000 in payroll until January 1st, 2021. The increase will provide brokerages with more than $490,000 in payroll up to ~$6,630 ($9,950 annualized) in savings for the 2020 year. Most brokerages will not experience a benefit from this change given their agents are independent contractors and their salaried staff in the average model is just over $300,000 a year.
