Good news.
The Government of Ontario announced today that it is easing public health restrictions sooner than originally expected, with the next phase of measures coming into force on February 17th, 2022, at 12:01am.
What does this mean for real estate?
There are two things we can share today.
Effective February 17th, 2022
First, the changes taking effect February 17th, 2022, are focused primarily on larger venues like restaurants, bars, gyms and cinemas. Generally speaking, the Province is increasing gathering limits in these spaces, subject to certain limitations.
Capacity limits for other indoor public settings are being maintained – this includes open houses. OREA’s previous guidance for real estate brokerages and open houses continues to apply. Members can review it here.
Effective March 1st, 2022
The Province is also planning to lift vaccination requirements for all settings as of March 1st, 2022. Businesses and other settings may choose to continue to require proof of vaccination.
Masking requirements will remain in place. A specific timeline to lift this measure will be communicated at a later date.
OREA expects that all real estate brokerages and open houses will be included in the easing of the new measures taking effect on March 1st, 2022 and we will update Members once we’ve confirmed that information with the Province.
